The 1st Test Match between Pakistan & New Zealand at Karachi was drawn. The visitors would feel that they missed a golden opportunity to win the Test Match as they had required another 77 runs where the target was 138 runs but due to bad light, the umpires decided not to play.

Babar Azam surprisingly declared on 311-8 when the team when Saud Shakeel was looking quite ominous as his score was 55 runs in 108 balls where he struck 7 fours and 1 six. The Skipper Babar Azam would be relieved as New Zealand almost pulled off a heist

New Zealand Cricket Team’s shrewd leg spinner Ish Sodhi bowled his heart out as he took 6 scalps in his 36.5 overs where he was seen bowling wicket to wicket. Sodhi was seen given long spells which did wonders for the team. Skipper Tim Southee didn’t look as if he was captaining in his maiden Test Match as his field placements were spot on.

The Men in Green would be utterly disappointed with their performance, especially with Sarfaraz Ahmed. The wicket-keeper batter had good outings with the bat in both innings but he dropped a lot of catches, and missed stumpings. It would be interesting to see whether the management brings back Rizwan and play Sarfaraz as a batter in 2nd Test.

ICC World Test Championship Table

Pakistan & New Zealand are out of the World Test Championship (WTC 2021-23) final. Both teams would be aiming to finish the cycle on a high note. Pakistan are in 7th position whereas New Zealand are in 8th position
