If plenty of hard work with very little rewards and returns had a face then it would look just like Mumbai-born batter Sarfaraz Khan. After years of grinding himself in domestic First-class cricket, the right-hand batter finally received his maiden Test call-up for India’s 2nd Test against England in Vizag.

His 18-year-old brother Musheer Khan who smacked a terrific century against New Zealand in the U-19 World Cup, has revealed the chat he had with Sarfaraz post-India call-up.

The 2 brothers are experiencing a very good time as cricketers in their respective lives. While the younger brother is storming through teams in the Under 19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa, the elder brother is finally making moves towards the senior national team.

Sarfaraz Khan recently shined for India A during their unofficial Test matches against England Lions in Ahmedabad. In the 1st match, the 26-year-old scored 96 from the number 4 position, which is currently vacant after KL Rahul got sidelined from the 2nd Test due to pain in his quadriceps.

Then in the 2nd match, Sarfaraz scored 4 and 55 runs across innings and he wasn’t showing signs of slowing down at all with everyone feeling as if something big was coming from his bat in the 3rd unofficial Test. And so he did. Sarfaraz Khan won the Man of the Match award for his splendid knock of 161 as India A thrashed the England Lions by 16 runs.

All of his knocks came from the number 4 slot which by co-incidence became unoccupied after the conclusion of 1st Test in Hyderabad. Sarfaraz Khan’s performances from that position forced the Indian team management to include him as a replacement for Rahul in the 2nd match.

Cricketers, Journalists, and fans of Sarfaraz poured their congratulatory posts and expressed their delight on his maiden Test call and it now remains to be seen if he can see off his India A teammate Rajat Patidar in earning a maiden Test debut cap.

While Sarfaraz awaits to make his senior team debut, his brother Musheer Khan revealed the brief chat between them. “My brother called me yesterday and he said that he has been selected in the Indian squad for the second Test.”

Musheer Aiming To Follow The Footsteps Of Elder Brother Sarfaraz Khan

18-year-old Musheer Khan has made a lot of news due to his aggressive batting performance in the ongoing U-19 World Cup which is now at its Super Six stage. India have won all of their 3 group fixtures and in 2 of those matches, Musheer had a hundred to his name, which helped him equal the record of Shikhar Dhawan of being the only Indian to score multiple tons in the U-19 WC.

While speaking to the press after his man-of-the-match-winning knock yesterday against New Zealand, Musheer stated that he wants to continue batting the same way and follow in the footsteps of his elder brother Sarfaraz Khan.

“It feels really good that I have scored two centuries and I want to continue batting well. It gives a sense of confidence. It was a bit of a slow pitch and our bowlers are in good flow and we got the results.” – Musheer said.
