Shikhar Dhawan is the first player on this list. Dhawan only plays for India in ODIs and only plays as an opener. Hence, there are many other players who play as openers for India like KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Shubman Gill among others.

These young players are making many efforts to get a permanent place as openers. ICC ODI World Cup takes place next year and the selectors are gearing up to set up the squad for the tournament. If Dhawan fails in the ODI series against Bangladesh, his career might be at risk.

2. Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar is another player on this list. In the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand, the bowling all-rounder was dropped in the final game after his bad performance in the opening match.
