IND vs BAN: "I Think Ishan Kishan Will Get The Nod" - Dinesh Karthik On Rohit Sharma's Replacement For 3rd ODI

Ishan Kishan should be taken into consideration as Rohit Sharma’s substitute for the last ODI against Bangladesh, according to seasoned keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik. The Team India captain will not play in the dead rubber due to a thumb injury, and he is questionable for the following Test series as well.
Team India will be forced to make changes to their starting XI for the third and final ODI due to the injuries to Rohit Sharma, Deepak Chahar, and Kuldeep Sen.

The top of the batting order is severely depleted by the skipper’s absence. In the second ODI, Virat Kohli was given the opportunity to lead off, but this strategy is extremely unlikely to be applied again. Although KL Rahul has started in ODIs in the past, indications are that he will bat in the middle order moving forward. In spite of Rohit’s injury, the stand-in captain started the previous game at No. 5.
Ishan Kishan And Shikhar Dhawan Will Open: Dinesh Karthik
Karthik suggested on Cricbuzz that Ishan Kishan start the innings alongside Shikhar Dhawan in the last ODI:

“I think Ishan Kishan will get the nod considering that he has opened against South Africa. I think it will be him and Shikhar to open, and I do think instead of Chahal it will be Shahbaz Ahmed who will come in.”
Over the course of six innings in 2022, Ishan Kishan has scored 207 runs. At the second One-Day International against South Africa in his birthplace of Ranchi in October 2022, he scored a series-saving 93 runs.
Karthik continues by providing further details about the prospective squad composition:
“They will play three spinners and three fast bowlers and that will bolster the batting as well and the fact that Chattogram aids a bit of turn.”
The Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka was originally supposed to host the third ODI. However, the event was moved to Chattogram because organisers expected demonstrations because of political unrest in the nation’s capital.
Beginning on December 14, the first Test will also be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
India Will Be Playing For A Lot Of Pride: Dinesh Karthik
Team India has now lost two straight ODI series versus Bangladesh, the most recent of which being a 2-1 series loss in 2015 following the 50-over World Cup. The hosts now have a commanding 2-0 lead and have a chance to complete a clean sweep with victory in the third match.
Only twice in recent memory have The Men in Blue lost a series. They suffered a similar outcome on their trip of New Zealand in 2020 after losing 3-0 to South Africa on the road earlier this year.
Karthik added that the Indian players wouldn’t want a 3-0 loss against Bangladesh on their record.
“I still think it will be a very strong team and they will be playing for a lot of pride because they know that they do not want to go 3-0 down.”
On Saturday, December 10, Team India and Bangladesh will square off in the third One-Day International.
