Updated ICC World Test Championship Points Table After India vs Bangladesh 1st Test, WTC Table. The KL Rahul-led India National Cricket Team defeated the Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh National Cricket Team by 188 runs in the first Test of the two-match series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. With the victory in the Test match, India bagged crucial ICC World Test Championship points and jumped to the No.3 spot on the points table.

India won the toss, opted to bat first in the match, and fielded a combination of two pacers and three spinners in the playing XI. Bangladesh also fielded the identical combination and they handed the debut cap to Zakir Hasan, who was the leading run-getter in the recently concluded National Cricket League.

The Day 1 of the match belonged to comebacks, first India fought back strong after being reduced to 48/3 as Cheteshwar Pujara stitched up crucial partnerships with Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, and then Bangladesh picked up two late wickets to send India on the back foot.

Cheteshwar Pujara played a fantastic 90-run knock, Shreyas Iyer scored unbeaten 82 runs and Rishabh Pant scored blazing 46 runs to help India reach 278 for 6 at the stumps.

On Day 2, Kuldeep Yadav’s all-round show, combined with Ravichandran Ashwin’s half-century and Mohammed Siraj’s 3-wicket haul put India in the driver’s seat. India were bundled out for 404 in their first innings.

Kuldeep Yadav scored a career-best 40 runs and bagged a 4-wicket haul while Ravichandran Ashwin scored brilliant 58 runs. Also, Mohammed Siraj dismantled Bangladesh’s top order and bagged a 3-wicket haul. At stumps on Day 2, Bangladesh were at 133/8 in 44 overs with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Ebadot Hossain not out and they were still 271 runs behind.

On Day 3, Bangladesh managed to add only 17 runs and got bowled out for 150 as Kuldeep Yadav completed his third 5-wicket haul in Test cricket. In the third innings, Shubman Gill slammed his maiden Test ton and Cheteshwar Pujara smashed his first Test century in 52 innings.

Gill scored 110 and Pujara scored 102 as India declared on 258 for 2, to post a humongous target of 513 for Bangladesh. At stumps, Bangladesh were at 42/0 with still needing 471 runs to win.

On Day 4, debutant Zakir Hasan smashed a century and had a brilliant century partnership with Najmul Hossain Shanto. However, Indian bowlers made a comeback and dismissed 6 batters to help India inch closer towards clinching the first Test in Chattogram. At stumps, Bangladesh were at 272/6.

On the final day, India wrapped up the match in 50 minutes. Mohammed Siraj dismissed Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Kuldeep Yadav castled Shakib Al Hasan, who scored brilliant 84 runs. The last two wickets were bagged by Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel and the Bangla Tigers were bundled out for 324. The visitors have now taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.

Before the first Test in Chattogram, Team India were in the fourth position on the points table with 52.08 percentage points and Team Bangladesh were in the ninth and last position with 13.33 percentage points.

Now, Team India have moved up one spot to third and have 55.77 percentage points. Team Bangladesh, on the other hand, have 12.12 percentage points.
