The BCCI named India’s Test squad for the one-off Test match against England to be played in Birmingham from June 1. The Test match is the rescheduled Manchester test which was postponed last year after a covid break out in the Indian camp.
The Indian team will play a three-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series after the end of the Birmingham Test in July. India will play a five-match T20I series against South Africa before playing three T20Is against England. Both these series will be used by the BCCI to identify players who can be named in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Many of those players can be added to the England squad when it will be announced. The BCCI has given fair chances to a few youngsters who have done well in the IPL in the upcoming series against South Africa. Some of them can play against England as well. Shubman Gill
Gill is playing the IPL regularly since 2018. His consistent performances in the league has earned him a spot in the Indian ODI and Test squad. He is a part of the Test squad that’s announced for the one-off game and can be well added to the Indian T20I squad. He is yet to make his T20I debut for India and this can be his big opportunity.
