India and England go head to head in the first T20I in Southampton on July 7 after the Test match. England won the test match and is the more confident team heading into the first game. Both teams will play a three-match T20I and ODI series now as they build up to the T20 World Cup later this year in Australia.

England will be led by Jos Buttler who is their new white-ball skipper after Eoin Morgan’s retirement from international cricket. It will interesting to see what brand of cricket they play post the Morgan era. Both Buttler and Ben Stokes were very vocal about the contribution of Morgan to England’s white-ball cricket. Stokes, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow have been rested for the t20I series. The trio will be back for the ODI series.

Stokes after England’s win in the Edgbaston Test told the reports that they are trying to rewrite how Test cricket is being played. One expects England to be all the more attacking in their white-ball cricket from here on, carrying forward Morgan’s legacy.

“We are trying to rewrite how Test cricket is being played, in England especially. All the different plans that we put together over the last four or five weeks, for every different situations is something we’ll look to carry forward” Stokes told Sky Sports.

The BCCI announced two separate squads for the three-match T20I series. The first T20I will be played by the group of players who were selected for the Ireland T20I series. Only Rohit Sharma will be a part of that squad among the senior players. He will also lead the side as he resumes captaincy after returning fit from a covid stint.

The likes of Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah among the other senior players will be back for the last two T20Is followed by the ODIs. Rohit has already resumed his training sessions ahead of the first T20I.
