The Ireland series is a good opportunity for several Indian players to stake a claim for the T20 World Cup selection. India play Ireland for two T20Is on June 26 and 28 after the completion of the series against England. The series will be a good preparation for the mega event later this year. India have beaten Ireland in the three previous T20Is that they have played.

The BCCI has already announced the T20I squad for India’s home T20I series against South Africa. It is expected that the squad which will be named for the Ireland series will be similar to the South Africa one.

KL Rahul

Rahul has a very good opportunity to end up as the Man of the series. If both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are rested from the series, Rahul is likely to lead India. If he has a good series with the bat and is tactical as captain, he can take the credit at the end of the series.

Hardik Pandya won the IPL title with Gujarat Titans as the skipper of the side. In the process, he has given the management another potential captaincy option for the future. A good series with both bat and ball can surely see Hardik win the Man of the series for India. His return to form and fitness was the biggest positive for Team India from the IPL season.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant can use this series to get back into form. He had a forgetful IPL season and can make up for it in this series. Pant is now a regular in the Indian white-ball sides as well after cementing his place on the Test side. Virender Sehwag advocated Pant opening the batting in T20Is. This series will be a good one for that experiment to be made.

Umran Malik

Malik’s pace can take the Irish batsmen by surprise. He is yet to play international cricket and can play in this series. If he gets a chance, his bowling exploits can certainly help him win the Man of the Series award.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal is fresh off a record-breaking IPL season. He ended the season with the most wickets (27). Given the form he is in, he should be included in the Indian squad which will be announced for the Ireland series.
