IND vs NZ: India Playing XI vs New Zealand (Predicted), India Tour Of New Zealand 2022, 3rd T20I.  India and New Zealand will square off in the third and final fixture of the T20I series on Tuesday, November 22. The Men In Blue will head to McLean Park in Napier with a chance to win the series.

The hosts will be out to seek parity in the series after a thrashing received in the 2nd T20I at Mount Maunganui. It was a no-brainer to choose to bat first at the Bay Oval after winning the toss.

Kane Williamson opted to bowl against an attacking Indian batting lineup at a venue where only once a team had successfully chased down a total. Though it wasn’t an easy pitch to bat on, India’s superhero, Suryakumar Yadav showed why he is a class apart. He was the only batsman from both teams who looked comfortable playing his strokes.

As both teams travel to Napier, there is everything to play for. India can seal the series 2-0 with a win at McLean Park while the hosts can bounce back and level the series. A batting-friendly pitch and short square boundaries will make for a high-scoring match between two strong batting teams.

Riding on Suryakumar Yadav’s blistering hundred and the bowlers’ impressive showing, India defeated New Zealand by 65 runs in the second T20 International to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series on Sunday.

The in-form Suryakumar Yadav fired yet again with a scintillating hundred as India posted 191 for six. In reply, New Zealand were all out for 126 in 18.5 overs, with Deepak Hooda taking 4/10 in 2.5 overs.  Tim Southee picked up a hat-trick when he took three wickets on the trot in the innings’ last over to finish with figures of 3/34. The first match of the series was a washout.

Brief Scores:

India: 191/6 in 20 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 111 not out; Tim Southee 3/34) beat New Zealand: 126 all out in 18.5 overs (Kane Williamson 61; Deepak Hooda 4/10) by 65 runs.

The Blackcaps aren’t used to such a thrashing at home. It wasn’t going to be easy chasing down a 192-run target at the Bay Oval. But the way in which New Zealand went down was unlike a T20 World Cup semi-finalist.

Kane Williamson was the top scorer for the hosts with a 61 off 52-ball knock which never made any impact on the innings. Considering the skipper’s form of late, it is bad news for the Blackcaps if Kane Williamson is the top team batsman in a T20I match.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will miss the third T20I against India in Napier because of a pre-arranged medical appointment. He is expected to rejoin the team ahead of the three-ODI series that begins on Friday.  Head coach Gary Stead said Tim Southee would lead New Zealand in the third T20I in Kane Williamson’s absence, while Mark Chapman had been called into the squad as cover.
A new captain, a new playing XI, and complete dominance against the regular NZ T20I side is how India started their tour of New Zealand. It can’t get better than this for Hardik Pandya and co. While Suryakumar Yadav continued his form, some of the returnees also made their mark.

Off-spinner Washington Sundar, who was expensive in his 2 overs, picked the crucial wicket of Devon Conway, breaking a 56-run stand for the 2nd wicket. After being dismissed for a duck on the first delivery at number 6, Deepak Hooda went on to finish with bowling figures of 4 for 10 from 2.5 Overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal also managed to use the pitch to his advantage and even after being hit for a six, he bounced back the next ball with a wicket. India ticked all the right boxes in their last match.

And they are all set to win their 2nd consecutive T20I series in New Zealand. Pacers from both teams will be looking to bowl back-of-the-hand deliveries given the pitch conditions and the boundary size.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s lack of pace might actually work in India’s favor this time around. Rishabh Pant will be eager to get runs after failing to get started in the last game. With Hardik Pandya and Deepak Hooda down the order, India can be expected to finish high.

There is a massive outcry to include Sanju Samson in the 11 in the place of Rishabh Pant, who continued his underwhelming ways in the T20s during the Bay Oval match as well, getting out for a 13-ball 6.

Having bagged the series already, the team management is in a comfortable place to explore other players and can give rest to some players. Sanju Samson may play in place of Shreyas Iyer while Umran Malik may replace Mohammed Siraj in the 3rd and final T20I.

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill was Man of the series in the ODI series against West Indies and Zimbabwe where he amassed 205 and 245 runs respectively averaging 102.5 and 122.5. One of the notable inclusions in the T20I squad is Shubman Gill, who is expected to make his international debut in the shortest format of the game in the 3rd T20I against hosts New Zealand.

Just a day after being selected for the Indian T20I squad, Shubman Gill smashed a swashbuckling century (126)  at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarter-final for Punjab against Karnataka at the Eden Gardens.

Ishan Kishan, the left-hander has been quite consistent in both limited overs-ODI and T20I formats. He has amassed 579 runs in 20 T20Is at an average of 30.47 and a strike rate of 130.11. He scored 36 off 31 balls in the 1st T20I against New Zealand and would battle for a place in the playing XI with opener Shubman Gill.

Rishabh Pant (wk)

Rishabh Pant played his first ICC T20 World Cup 2022 game against Zimbabwe but scored only 3 runs. He was run out in the semis against England after scoring 6 runs. Rishabh Pant has amassed 976 runs in 65 T20Is at a strike rate of 125.77 at a mediocre average of 22.7.

He scored only 6 off 13 balls in the 2nd T20I against New Zealand and the vice-captain in this series would desperately try to do well in the 3rd T20I as his place in the playing XI in T20Is is in danger. He may open with either of Ishan Kishan or Shubman Gill in the 3rd T20I vs NZ.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav-the top-ranked T20I batter according to ICC Rankings is a man who can’t do any wrong in this T20I format and India’s own Mr. 360, is one of the most improved players and is going through a purple patch. He scored his 2nd T20I ton in the 1st T20I against the Kiwis, scoring 111* off only 51 balls at a strike rate of 217.65.

He was India’s 2nd highest run scorer and overall 3rd (after Virat Kohli-296, Max O’ Dowd-242) in ICC T20 World Cup 2022 with 239 runs averaging 59.75 at a strike rate of 189.68. Suryakumar Yadav became the No.1 T20I batter after a superb showing in the Super 12 stage of the 2022 T20 World Cup, where he smashed three fifties in five innings.

Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda impressed with his good performance in the shortest format. After his debut this year, the right-handed batsman has played 14 T20I games and scored 293 runs in 11 innings at an average of 32.56 and strike rate of 152.6.

He has also hit 1 century-a career-best 104 against Ireland. He however scored ducks in the last two T20Is after a poor performance in Asia Cup 2022 (19 runs in 2 innings). He has also picked 5 T20I scalps in his career with 4 wickets coming in the previous T20I.

All-rounder Deepak Hooda ran riot with the ball, taking four wickets in the 1st T20I against the Kiwis. His 4/10 is the best by an Indian bowler in T20Is against New Zealand. Deepak Hooda took four wickets for 10 runs in his 2.5 overs, the best by an Indian bowler in T20Is against New Zealand.

Deepak Hooda’s fantastic spell also broke spinner Axar Patel’s previous best bowling figures by an Indian in T20Is between New Zealand and India of 3/9 in three overs.

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson will compete for a spot in the XI with keeper Ishan Kishan against New Zealand with Rishabh Pant being the vice-captain will definitely play. Sanju Samson debuted way back in 2015 against Zimbabwe in T20Is but has played in only 16 T20Is. His best of 77 came against Ireland in 2022.

He has managed 296 runs in T20Is averaging 21.14. Sanju Samson averages 73.5 in ODIs having played 10 games since the 2021 Sri Lanka tour. He has managed 294 runs with a best of 86* against South Africa. Shreyas Iyer’s failure in the 2nd T20I where he scored 13 off 9 balls before being dismissed hit wicket may see Sanju Samson play the 3rd T20I against New Zealand.

Hardik Pandya

Since regaining his full fitness, Hardik Pandya has just been seen winning games single-handedly for India and is contributing in all three facets of the game. He provides the team with the necessary balance, i.e., the 6th bowler.

The right-handed batsman, a veteran of 80 T20Is will lead the team in the New Zealand T20I series. He had led previously against Ireland. He scored 13 off as many balls but didn’t bowl in the 1st T20I against the hosts Kiwis.

He had picked 8 scalps averaging 18.25 in 6 T20Is in T20 World Cup 2022 besides scoring 128 runs. His 63 against England in the semis went in vain. He had picked 3/30 and scored 40 in India’s opening T20 WC Super 12 game against Pakistan.

Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar has played 32 T20Is since debuting in 2017. He has picked 26 scalps averaging 29.77. His last T20I was in March 2021 against England at home before the 2nd T20I against New Zealand, where he picked 1/24 in 2 overs.

Finally free of injuries, Washington Sundar is set for a new lease of life with Team India. As BCCI is set to phase out Ravichandran Ashwin in line with the T20 reboot following India’s 2022 T20 WC Exit, India needs an off-spinner. But more than that, India needs batting depth. Washington Sundar provides both to Team India.

He had a fractured finger before England tour and had tested Covid-19 positive missing the South Africa tour as well. He had a pulled hamstring in India’s tour of Sri Lanka. He missed IPL 2022 as well due to split webbing and a finger injury. His shoulder injury ruled him out of West Indies and Zimbabwe tours.

Arshdeep Singh

The left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh played the 2nd T20I against the Kiwis after the first T20I was abandoned due to rain.  He has executed a spectacular performance in his short T20I career so far. He has picked 29 scalps in only 20 T20Is averaging 19.34.

In the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2022, he picked 10 scalps in only 6 T20Is averaging a mere 15.6.  He was wicketless in the 2nd T20I against NZ, returning with figures of 0/29 in 3 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has established himself as India’s all-time leading wicket-taker in the shortest format where he picked up 90 wickets. He picked 11 scalps averaging 10.45 in Asia Cup 2022 playing 5 T20Is and 4 scalps averaging 28.75 playing 6 T20Is in T20 World Cup 2022. He picked 1/12 in 3 overs in the 2nd T20I against New Zealand.

Mohammed Siraj played in the 2nd T20I against the Kiwis. He has played 7 T20Is where he picked 7 scalps averaging 39.57. His last T20I came against Proteas on October 4, 2022, before the 2nd T20I against Kiwis where he picked 2/24. He debuted in T20Is in 2017 but has featured in only 7 T20I series, playing 1 match in each series.

Umran Malik

Umran Malik may play in the 3rd T20I in place of Mohammed Siraj. The Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer had a breakthrough season in IPL 2022. He bagged 22 wickets in 14 games in IPL 2022 at an average of 20.18, an economy of 9.03, and a strike rate of 13.40, including a four-wicket haul and a five-wicket haul.

After his impressive show with the ball in the Indian Premier League, the pacer got his India T20I call-up. However, after a short 3-match run, he was dropped from the team as he failed to leave a mark at the international level. He averages 56 and has an economy of 12.44 to show despite picking 2 scalps in 3 T20Is.

Yuzvendra Chahal

After missing out on last year’s 2021 T20I World Cup, Yuzvendra Chahal was included in the 2022 T20I World Cup but was benched throughout the event with Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin being preferred instead. He has repeatedly proved his worth for India during the middle overs.

He is the top spin bowler for India so far, having taken the 2nd most wickets after Bhuvneshwar Kumar (90) for India in T20Is-87 scalps in 69 T20Is.  He picked 2/26 in 4 overs in the 2nd T20I against hosts New Zealand.
