Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey opined on the DRS controversy that happened during the third day’s play of the third Test between South Africa and India, where Dean Elgar was saved due to DRS after being given out LBW with Indian players taking a dig at official broadcasters for the gaffe.

The moment came when Ravichandran Ashwin got Dean Elgar out LBW with the on-field umpire Marias Erasmus giving it out. But Elgar opted for the DRS review. The review showed that the ball was legal and had pitched in the middle of stumps and also hit Elgar’s pad in middle.

However, when the Hawkeye showed the trajectory of the ball, it showed that it was going over the leg-stump, much to the dismay and anger of the Indian team. This led to Ravi Ashwin, Virat Kohli, and even KL Rahul using the stump mics to take a dig at official broadcasters Supersport.

Talking about the same, Mhambrey told ANI:  “We saw it, you saw it. I will leave it to the match referee to have a look at it. I have nothing more to say, we have seen it all, we want to just move on with the game now. Every individual is trying his best, sometimes at the moments like this, people do say some things, and it is a game. It would be fair that we move on, let’s not take this further.”

His Energy Rubs Off Onto The Others, Which You Want From Your Captain: Paras Mhambrey On Virat Kohli’s Leadership Style

During the same interview, Mhambrey was also asked to elaborate on Virat Kohli’s captaincy style. There was a stark difference in the Indian team’s mannerisms when Kohli returned to lead them after missing the second Test of the series in Johannesburg under KL Rahul’s captaincy.

Kohli gave the team different energy on the field and Mhambrey said that it is something you want from your captain.

“He is quite lively, that is how he likes to play his cricket. His energy rubs off onto the others and that is what you want from your captain. It is an experienced group. It is not about what kind of bowling or batting unit you have, after looking at the wicket, decisions are taken accordingly. You have to be prepared to bowl first or defend a small target. It is not about the fifth day, it is about the first day, you take a decision and then you back that decision,” he added.

India managed just 198 runs in their second innings thanks to Rishabh Pant’s 100*. South Africa ended day 3 on 101/2 while chasing 212 runs to win the Test and the series.
