India is all set to play a four-match T20 international series in South Africa after the tests and ODIs and this could be a big series for both teams in preparation for the T20 World cup. India is coming off an early exit in the Super 12 stages of the T20 World cup 2021 but has won the ongoing home series against New Zealand.

India and South Africa have shared a lot of T20I memories and it is to note that India played its first T20I against South Africa which they went on to win as well. Deepak Hooda:

Deepak Hooda was part of the India squad in the Nidahas trophy that India went on to win, however, he failed to get a chance in the playing XI and was dropped after that. However, his decent run in the IPL this time followed by a fantastic Syed Mushtaq Ali performance might earn him a call-up again.

Hooda has shown a lot of maturity in finishing games for his side Rajasthan and is averaging over 70 in the six games he played. He is second in the top run-scorers of the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament this season and deserves to be in the Indian squad for South Africa series.

Krishnappa Gowtham:

Krishnappa Gowtham has made his ODI debut in the series against Sri Lanka but is yet to make his T20I debut. Gowtham did not play a single game for the Chennai Super Kings side this season despite being bought for some big money but is still among the contenders for a spot.

Gowtham’s domestic experience and his destructive batting down the order will be very useful for India in building a strong lower middle order. India does not have many off-spin all-rounders other than Washington Sundar or R Ashwin and this may well help him in making his debut.

Avesh Khan:

Avesh Khan is yet to make his debut in any format of the game and he will be one of the names discussed for the South Africa tour considering India’s future. The right-arm seamer finished as the second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL 2021.

Avesh has been with the Indian team as a net bowler and has learned a lot of things that he did not show in the past. Control of his lines and lengths alongside nailing the yorkers gives him an excellent skill set to have.

Umran Malik:

Umran Malik was termed to be one of the finds of the season this year in IPL as the Kashmir pacer clocked a 153kph delivery that stunned the batters. He recorded the quickest delivery in this IPL 2021 and he is going to be a useful addition in the future.

Pace is something that cannot be trained and it has to come inbuilt. Umran Malik’s strong physique alongside a clever mind will be a great combination and considering the South Africa pitches, India might opt for him to make his T20I debut.

Arzan Nagwaswalla:

Arzan Nagwaswalla might not be a popular figure in IPL or international circuit, however, he has some excellent numbers in the domestic circuit. He averages under 22 in all three formats in first-class cricket and he has been with the Indian team as a net bowler.

He has done well for Gujarat in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy last year and it won’t be too long till he makes his debut for India. He provides a left-arm seam option that India has been lacking for a long time and also with T Natrajan’s injury.
