After losing the Test series, India are gearing up for the three-match ODI series against South Africa. The IND vs SA ODI series will witness 3 games. The first two ODIs (January 19, 21) will be played at Boland Park in Paarl. South Africa recently defeated India in the Test series 2-1, a series defeat which saw Virat Kohli stepping down as India’s Test captain to shock the cricketing world.
KL Rahul will lead the ODI series in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Ahead of the first ODI on January 19, Rahul has also confirmed that he will open the batting along with Shikhar Dhawan. He has not spoken about the playing combination any further.

Sachin Tendulkar- 1453
The Indian cricket legend has scored the most ODI runs in South Africa. Sachin’s tally stands at 1453 runs and no other Indian cricketer has scored more runs than Sachin. He was a part of IND vs SA rivalry from 1991 to 2011 scoring 2001 runs against the Protean side overall. Out of those runs. he has scored 1453 in South Africa alone.

Sourav Ganguly-1048
The former Indian skipper is the second-highest run-getter among Indian batsmen in South Africa. He has scored 1048 runs in the rainbow nation. He played 29 games overall against the Proteas scoring a total of 1313 runs in ODIs out of which 1048 came in South Africa. He has also scored three centuries against them during his playing days.
Rahul Dravid-930
The current India head coach Rahul Dravid has scored 930 runs against the South Africans in their own backyard. Overall, he scored 1309 runs against the opposition in the format out of which 930 came in South Africa. Dravid has the tough task of regrouping his players after a shocking Test series defeat against a much weaker South African side. It will be interesting to see how he works with the new Indian ODI skipper for the series KL Rahul.
Virat Kohli- 887
The Indian skipper is placed fourth on the list with 887 runs in South Africa. Out of the 887, he scored 558 in India’s previous tour to the rainbow nation in 2018. He also scored three centuries in that series.
Meanwhile, it will be 788 days since Kohli last scored his international century. He has come close to the elusive three-figure mark 21 times in international cricket since November 23 of 2019, the most recent being the Cape Town Test last week where he scored 79 off 201 balls.

Shikhar Dhawan-798
Dhawan has scored 798 runs in 18 innings in South Africa. He scored 323 runs in the last series along with one hundred and two fifty-plus scores. However, this time around, Dhawan is playing for a spot in the side. A good performance in this ODI series can certainly brighten his future in India’s white-ball game. With two ICC events to follow soon, the southpaw would look to make the most of this opportunity.
