Dean Elgar is the skipper of the team and will lead the team in IND vs SA 2nd Test as well. In the 1st Test, the left-handed batsman got out cheaply in the 1st innings but scored impressive 77 runs in the 2nd innings. However, he could not save the Test for his team. In the next game, he will look to fill the gaps of the team’s weaknesses and make a comeback in the three-match series.

Aiden Markram struggled miserably in the 1st Test. He got out for 13 and 1 in both innings. While his opening partner Dean Elgar managed to score a good knock in one innings, Markram failed in both of them. He might get another chance in the next game but will have to smack a good knock for the team.

Keegan Petersen

Keegan Petersen might be the one-down batsman in the IND vs SA 2nd Test. Petersen scored 17 and 15 in both innings. He started well but soon lost his wicket. He needs to perform so that South Africa can get enough runs in the middle. Petersen will have a tough challenge in the next game against a powerful pace attack of India.

Rassie van der Dussen

Rassie van der Dussen too struggled with the bat in the previous game. He scored just 14 runs in two innings at an average of 7.0, getting crushed for 14 and 3 in both innings. He needs to prove himself in the next game. If he performs well, the team will be able to get the required runs in the middle.

Temba Bavuma was one player who performed well in both innings. After the miserable batting collapse in the first innings which sent South Africa to 32-4, Temba Bavuma scored 52 which helped the team to reach near 200 in the 1st innings. In the 2nd innings, he remained not out at 35. Bavuma will be part of the next game as well and might play a crucial role in the batting zone.

With the surprising retirement of wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock from Tests, South Africa will need to go with another keeper in IND vs SA 2nd Test. Out of the two other keepers in the 20-man squad, Kyle Verreynne is more likely to make a presence in the next game. He is a right-handed batsman who has played 2 Tests and 9 ODI so far and is yet to smash good knocks in the longer format.

Wiaan Mulder

Wiaan Mulder might be the all-rounder in the next game as well. He could only manage 13 and 1 in the last Test. With the ball, the right-arm medium pacer could not claim a wicket, after bowling 29 overs in the match. He will look to come up with a better show in the next encounter.

Keshav Maharaj

Keshav Maharaj is the only spinner in the team in the current series. With a ground not so friendly for spinners, Keshav Maharaj failed to pick any wicket in the 1st Test. He also failed with his role of nightwatchman on Day 4, when he came to the crease at no.3 but lost his wicket before the stumps. South Africa do not have any other spin options in the squad and they will have to go ahead with Maharaj in the next game as well.

Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen made an impressive debut for the team in the IND vs SA 1st Test. The right-arm pacer scalped 1 wicket in the 1st innings, before coming out with a brilliant 4-wicket haul in the 2nd innings. With 5 wickets in the match at an average of 24.80 in the last game, Jansen is highly likely to get a call for the 2nd Test as well.

Kagiso Rabada
