South Africa emerged as the ultimate champions of the IND vs SA Test series, as they crushed India 2-1 to lift the trophy. South Africa was 1-0 down in the series after the 1st Test. However, they bounced back with pleasing back-to-back victories in the next two games to win the series. After losing the 1st Test by 113 runs, the home side won the 2nd and 3rd Test by 7 wickets.

Although India lost the Test series, there were a few Indian players who executed astonishing performances during the IND vs SA Test series. Few batsmen and bowlers executed fabulous efforts during the three games. In this listicle, we rate players of the India squad on the basis of their performances in the IND vs SA Test series.

Cheteshwar Pujara- 5

Cheteshwar Pujara gets the least rating of 5.0 out of 10 on this list. Pujara, in spite of being a Test specialist batsman for India, could only score 124 runs in 6 innings at an average of 20.66. He slammed one half-century scoring 53 runs, which was his highest score in 6 innings. He also dropped a crucial catch at slips in the 3rd Test and got out for a duck in one inning.

Ajinkya Rahane- 5

Ajinkya Rahane also came up with a disappointing performance during IND vs SA Test series. The right-handed batsman scored 136 runs in 6 innings at an average of 22.66. He hit only one half-century- a top score of 58 runs. He got out for cheap scores in the rest of the games. Rahane gets a rating of 5.0.

Umesh Yadav- 5.5

Umesh Yadav gets a rating of 5.5. The right-arm pacer was picked to replace Mohammed Siraj in the squad in IND vs SA 3rd Test. However, he could only pick 2 wickets in his kitty at an average of 50.0. He did not manage to attack the opposition batsmen like that of Siraj.

Mohammed Siraj- 5.5

Mohammed Siraj gets a rating of 5.5. Siraj played 2 Tests during the series. He got injured in the 2nd Test and could not bowl much. In total, he scalped 3 wickets in 2 matches at an average of 51.0. He scalped 3 wickets in the 1st Test and went wicketless in the 2nd.

Mayank Agarwal- 6

Mayank Agarwal gets a rating of 6.0. Agarwal only played a good knock of 60 runs in the 1st innings of IND vs SA 1st Test. He largely failed to bat well in the rest of the innings. In 6 innings, he scored 135 runs at an average of 22.50 with one fifty.

Hanuma Vihari- 7

Hanuma Vihari gets a rating of 7.0. The right-handed batsman only played one game but highly impressed with his batting. He played 2 innings, scoring unbeaten 40 and 20 in both innings at an average of 60.0. With his unbeaten 40-run knock in the 2nd innings of IND vs SA 2nd Test, he helped India to get a good total on the scoreboard

Ravichandran Ashwin- 7

Ravichandran Ashwin gets a rating of 7.0 out of 10 for his brilliant batting and bowling show. He executed the responsibilities of an all-rounder quite well. With the ball, the right-arm spinner hunted 3 wickets in 3 Tests at an average of 60.66. With the bat, he scored 89 runs in 6 innings. He played a fabulous knock of 46 runs in one game.

Virat Kohli- 7.5

Virat Kohli gets a rating of 7.5 for his batting efforts. The Indian skipper only played two games in the series, as he did not play the IND vs SA 2nd Test due to a back issue. The right-handed batsman scored 161 runs in 4 innings at an average of 42.5. On his comeback in the 3rd Test, he slammed an incredible knock of 79 runs in one inning.

Rishabh Pant- 7.5

Rishabh Pant gets a rating of 7.5. The wicketkeeper-batsman was highly criticized for his poor batting show till 2 games. However, he slammed a marvellous century in the 3rd Test to earn the accolades. With his unbeaten century, he accounted for 186 runs in 6 innings at an average of 37.20.

Jasprit Bumrah- 8.0

Jasprit Bumrah gets a rating of 8.0 out of 10. The right-arm pacer grabbed 12 wickets in 3 Tests, bowling at an average of 23.41. Bumrah always helped his team to get breakthroughs. He also bagged a 5-wicket haul in the 3rd Test.

Shardul Thakur- 8.0

Shardul Thakur gets a rating of 8.0. The right-arm pacer bowled a spectacular spell in IND vs SA 2nd Test, bagging a 7-wicket haul. In total, he accounted for 12 wickets in 3 Tests. He owned a bowling average of 19.08.

KL Rahul- 9.0

KL Rahul gets a rating of 9.0 for his batting show. KL Rahul slammed a century in IND vs SA 1st Test. His 123-run knock was the sole reason behind India’s victory in the game. He also slammed a half-century in the subsequent match. In 6 innings, the right-handed batsman piled up 226 runs in 6 innings at an average of 37.66.

Mohammed Shami – 9.5

Mohammed Shami gets the highest rating among the India squad. Shami’s bowling was magnificent during the entire series. The right-arm pacer hunted 14 wickets in 3 Tests, the most than any other teammate. He owned an average of 21.0 and also bagged one five-wicket haul. Shami gets a rating of 9.5.
