Indian bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur once again played the role of partnership breaker for the Indian team as he dismissed Proteas opener, Quinton de Kock, in the second ODI at the Boland Park, Paarl on Friday, January 21.
Chasing the target of 288 runs Proteas openers Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan looked good out in middle, they completed the half-century partnership one over before the Indian team, in the 8th over. They looked unstoppable and crossed the 100-run mark and Indian bowling looked clueless against the Proteas openers.

Meanwhile, Rahul decided to opt for a review and the replays showed that the Proteas opener Quinton de Kock missed the low full toss while playing a flick shot and the ball struck him right in front of the stumps and there was no edge and the ball was hitting the stumps. Quinton de Kock’s innings ended at the score of 78 off 66.

Earlier, winning the toss and batting first captain KL Rahul and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant batted brilliantly against the Proteas bowling unit. The duo played 111 balls and scored 115 runs, Rahul contributed 31 runs and Pant contributed 83 in the partnership before the former was dismissed by Sisanda Magala in the 32nd over. With the help of amazing batting by Pant and Rahul, India were able to post 287 runs on the board.
