Revealed: When Will Virat Kohli Return To The Indian Playing XI?

To everyone’s surprise, Virat Kohli is not part of the ongoing IND vs SA 2nd Test, which began on January 3 at The Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The India Test skipper was not part of the playing XI and KL Rahul is leading the team in the match. During the toss, KL Rahul explained the reason behind Kohli’s absence from the clash and also revealed when the Test skipper will be back into the playing XI.
Hanuma Vihari has replaced the Virat Kohli in the squad. The rest of the players are the same as that of the IND vs SA 1st Test. Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Jayant Yadav, Priyank Panchal, Shreyas Iyer, and Wriddhiman Saha have been benched in the 2nd Test as well. India won the toss and elected to bat first in the match.

Virat Kohli Will Be Back In IND vs SA 2nd Test, Reveals KL Rahul
During the toss, KL Rahul revealed that Virat Kohli has sustained a spasm in his back due to which he pulled himself out of the match. He also mentioned that Kohli will be back in the next Test.
“Unfortunately Virat has had an upper back spasm, the physios are working on him and hopefully he’ll recover for the next Test. It is every Indian player’s dream to captain his country. Really honoured and looking forward to this challenge. We have had a few good wins here and hopefully we’ll look to continue that. Hanuma Vihari comes in place of Virat. Just the one change. It was a good Test at Centurion overall. We really performed well as a team and are really excited about this match”, Rahul said during the toss.

Hence, Virat Kohli will be back in the IND vs SA 3rd Test, which is scheduled to take place at Newlands in Cape Town from January 11. The right-handed batsman had a poor show in the 1st Test at Centurion which saw him again struggling to come up with a good knock in the unlimited-overs format. The 33-year-old scored 35 runs in the 1st innings and got out for 18 in the 2nd innings. However, India managed to defeat South Africa by 113 runs in the end.
India posted 327-10 runs in the 1st innings, thanks to a spectacular 123-run knock by KL Rahul. Later, South Africa were bowled out for 197 in the 1st innings, giving a 130-run lead to India. In the 2nd innings, India posted 174-10 on the board and set up a 305-run target for the home side. South Africa could only reach 191 before losing all their wickets and lost the match by 113 runs.
