Rohit Sharma Injured In Training Session Ahead Of South Africa Departure, Clouds Loom Large Over Participation

Indian white-ball captain and Test vice-captain Rohit Sharma has suffered an injury in a training session before the South Africa departure.
Rohit Sharma, Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul and Shardul Thakur were busy in a training session on Sunday afternoon at the Sharad Pawar Academy.

Former India Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane who has lost his vice-captain’s spot and is fighting for his place in the playing XI had an intense training session after missing out on Mumbai Test against New Zealand due to a hamstring strain.
Rohit Sharma’s Training Session Cut Short After Suffering An Injury
The Indian white-ball captain Rohit was also having a batting session with Ajinkya Rahane. Both the senior batters decided to face an over each against the three throwdown experts.
Meanwhile, Raghavendra, popularly known as Raghu is one of the most experienced and the best throwdown expert on the team. He bowled a delivery that strike Rohit’s gloves hard and he was seen in pain. However, after sometimes he was in good spirits and was seen taking selfies with the crowd maintaining the social distancing. Notably, Ajinkya Rahane broke his finger facing Raghu in the nets before the Mumbai Test against England in 2016.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant had warm-ups but he did not have a batting session as he was not feeling a hundred per cent fit after suffering a hamstring strain during a gym session.
Later pace bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur joined the team and had a long bowling session and he was seen bowling deliveries to KL Rahul. Shardul also has some batting sessions to finish off the training.
Meanwhile, in the evening the Indian team joined the bio-bubble for the South Africa tour and they will travel to Johannesburg on a chartered flight on December 16. The India tour of the South Africa series is set to begin from December 26 and it will consist of three Tests and three ODI games. Due to the spread of the new Covid-19 variant in South Africa, players will have to stay in a strict bio-bubble.
