Indian captain Virat Kohli was left frustrated and aghast as Mayank Agarwal’s lack of awareness in the field cost India four runs. Kohli is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve and never fails to show his emotions whether it is for the opposition or for his own teammates.
As Indian team was trying to get rid of South Africa’s Keegan Petersen, who was standing like a rock. He played an amazing back-foot punch off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah and Mayank Agarwal raced after the ball on the offside. After doing all the hard yards, Agarwal slid near the boundary to stop the ball successfully, but could not get the job done in the end.
Despite putting in the slide, the opener delayed releasing the ball and he ended up touching the rope with the ball in hand. This led to the Indian captain Virat Kohli throwing his hands in the air and looking in despair and disappointment. Kohli has set a high standard in the field not only for himself but for the entire Indian team as well.
But that effort from Agarwal led to the captain showing emotions after being disappointed. Kohli’s reaction led to Sunil Gavaskar also sharing his disappointment with Mayank Agarwal’s fielding effort at the boundary. Gavaskar noted that Agarwal had plenty of time to flick it back inside the boundary rope which did not happen.
“He could have easily flicked it away, no wonder the captain is not very happy,” Gavaskar said on air.
Here is the video of Virat Kohli’s reaction:
