Ravi Ashwin took a dig at the Supersport broadcasters after Dean Elgar survived an LBW decision in the ongoing third Test match between South Africa and India at the Newlands, Cape Town.
India set South Africa a target of 212 runs after making 198 in their second innings. Rishabh Pant top-scored with a brilliant 100* and Virat Kohli made 29. Kagiso Rabada picked 3/53, Marco Jansen picked 4/36, and Lungi Ngidi took 3/21. It was a poor batting performance from the visitors and gave the hosts a chance to win the series after losing the first Test and winning the second one.
Meanwhile, things got heated up during the South African chase. Mohammad Shami removed Aiden Markram, who has struggled against the Indian pacer in the whole series. However, the familiar duo of Dean Elgar and Keegan Petersen got together to torment India bowlers as they added 78 runs for the second wicket.
A moment came in the match when Ravichandran Ashwin got Dean Elgar out LBW with the on-field umpire Marias Erasmus giving it out. What followed next has given rise to one of the biggest controversies of the match and perhaps of the series as well.
“You Should Find Better Ways To Win Supersport”: Ravi Ashwin After Dean Elgar Gets A Life Due To DRS
It was the 4th ball of the 21st over when Ashwin managed to get one ball to go straight and hit Dean Elgar on the pad right in front of the stumps. Marais Erasmus agreed with Ashwin’s appeal and gave Elgar out, who opted for a DRS review. The review showed that the ball was legal and had pitched in the middle of stumps and also hit Elgar’s pad in middle.
However, when the hawkeye showed the trajectory of the ball, it showed that it was going over the leg-stump, much to the dismay and anger of the Indian team.
Even Erasmus was left bewildered and shook his head, saying “that is impossible.”

Ravi Ashwin then came near the stumps and took a dig at official broadcasters saying: “You should find better ways to win Supersport.”

Whole Country Playing Against XI Guys- Virat Kohli And KL Rahul Also Take Dig At Broadcasters
Not only was Ashwin peeved with the decision, but captain Virat Kohli kicked the turf in desperation and anger and went to the stumps mics to take a dig at the broadcasters. He recalled the broadcasters catching Cameron Bancroft using the sandpaper in the 2018 Test match between Australia and South Africa and asked the broadcasters to focus on their own team as well.
He said: “Focus on your team as well and not just the opposition, trying to catch people all the time.” After him, KL Rahul, the vice-captain, also added a few words in and said: “Whole country playing against XI guys.”

However, Dean Elgar survived for a few more overs, before Jasprit Bumrah had him caught behind down the leg side. A decision that also came via DRS and South Africa finished day 3 on 101/2.
