IND vs WI: India's Predicted Playing XI Against West Indies, 3rd T20I

India take on West Indies in the third T20I at St Kitts on August 2, a day after playing the second T20I at the same venue. West Indies won the second T20I by five wickets to level the series. Meanwhile, the timings for the third T20I has been changed. Cricket West Indies confirmed the new timings via an official statement.

“Cricket West Indies (CWI) confirmed a revised start time of 12pm (11am Jamaica/9:30pm India) for the third match between West Indies and India in the Goldmedal T20I Cup, to be played at Warner Park in St Kitts on Tuesday 2nd August,” CWI stated in an official statement.

India have played some splendid cricket first in the ODI series and then in the T20I series so far. Skipper Rohit Sharma spoke about the players performing their roles and also spoke about the need for the set batters to carry on long into the innings. He d=futrther spoke about the Indian players sticking to their attacking style of play after the loss in the second T20I where they failed as a batting group.

“I thought the guys executed the plans and really happy with the way the guys bowled. We have to look at some things in our batting. But I will say it again and again, this is the approach we want with the bat. We won’t panic. We won’t change anything after one loss” Rohit said after the second T20I loss. 

The five-match series gives India enough opportunities to experiment in terms of players and their roles. Meanwhile, Indian seamer Harshal Patel has been ruled out from the series with a rib injury and will take no further part in the remaining games.  In this article, we take a look at India’s possible playing Xi in the third T20I against West Indies.

Rohit will open the batting as usual. He is the most in-form batter for India in the series so far. After being rested from the ODI series, Rohit has made a good comeback into playing XI.

Rishabh Pant (WK)

Pant has opened the batting in T20Is and should be allowed to open the batting in the third T20I. It was Suryakumar Yadav who opened the batting in the first T20I and Pant in the second.

Hooda has been in good form ever since making his international debut for India. He recently scored his maiden T20I ton for India against Ireland and was the fourth Indian batsman overall.

Suryakumar Yadav / Sanju Samson

One among SKY or Samson can slot in at number four. Both can play anywhere in the top four and are stylish batters.

Hardik Pandya

Pandya with his all-round abilities slots in at number five. He has made a good comeback to the Indian team and is contributing with both bat and ball.

Ravindra Jadeja

Jadeja is the second all-rounder in the Indian playing XI. He also is equally good with both bat and ball in this current Indian team. He slots in at six.

Dinesh Karthik

Karthik slots in at seven as the specialist finisher in the Indian team. He wants to play in the T20 World Cup and is working hard towards achieving his goal.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvi will lead the Indian seam bowling attack. He has become India’s specialist white-ball bowler with time and has the most T20I wickets against West Indies.

Avesh Khan was expensive in the last match giving away 31 runs in less than three overs. Given that Axar Patel is in the side and brings his batting along with his bowling abilities, he can replace Khan in the third T20I

Arshdeep Singh

The left-arm seamer was a part of the Indian team in the first T20I. He picked up two wickets for 24 runs. Experts say that he is key to India’s T20 World Cup plans in Australia. He should ideally play all the games this series.

Kuldeep has been added to India’s T20I squad for the series. In the absence of Yuzvendra Chahal, he should be chosen ahead of Ravi Bishnoi. This completes Team India’s predicted playing Xi against West Indies for the third T20I.
