IND vs WI: Suryakumar Yadav Is Required In The Middle Order For The Indian Team - Rajkumar Sharma

Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli’s former coach, is confident that Suryakumar Yadav is Team India’s No. 4 player.

In the last two Twenty20 Internationals against the West Indies, the Men in Blue made changes to their batting order, starting the innings with a Mumbai Indians (MI) batsman.

Suryakumar, who has previously performed for MI, nevertheless did not leave much of an effect at the top of the order. The right-handed batter managed scores of 24 and 11, respectively, before being struck out both times when the team was on a powerplay.

The Men in Blue have used players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, and Deepak Hooda at the top of the order during KL Rahul’s extended absence.

‘The Indian team needs him in the middle order’: Rajkumar Sharma

Rajkumar Sharma told India News Sports that he was surprised that India chose Suryakumar Yadav as their opener despite having many other choices available:

“It is odd that India decided against using Rishabh Pant, who has previously been allowed to start, or even their regular opener.”

“Suryakumar is a player who has already positioned himself at No. 4, even though this is a massive experiment. He is required in the middle order for the Indian team. Therefore, I believe that any experimenting on him should be avoided” Rajkumar Sharma Added.

The Mumbai-native batsman made a name for himself in the 2018 Indian Premier League (IPL) when he began the MI innings. He ended up leading the franchise in scoring with 512 runs at an average of 36.57. His strike rate was a respectable 133.33.
