West Indies face off against India in the third and final ODI of the three-match series in Trinidad on Wednesday. The hosts lost the first two ODIs and have already lost the series. They are standing on the brink of yet another ODI series loss.

Windies skipper Nicholas Pooran said that the side is yet to find the right template to play ODI cricket. They lost two close games against India even after scoring big with the bat as their bowlers failed to defend the scores.

“Not only from my side but from a coaching side as well, our focus it to balance ODI cricket between T20 cricket and Test cricket. I think we haven’t found the right template yet and everyone can see that. We’re not batting 50 overs and that’s the first box we want to tick” Pooran said ahead of the start of the ODI series.

Meanwhile, Jason Holder has been ruled out of the series after being affected by the covid virus. He was picked in the original squad after missing out on the ODI series against Bangladesh.

“As we all know Jason is one of the leading all-round cricketers in the world and we’re happy to have him back in the team. He will be refreshed, re-energized and ready to go and we can expect to see his brilliance on the field as well as meaningful contributions off the field as well,” West Indies chief selector Desmond Haynes said. In this article, we take a look at West Indies predicted XI against India for the third and final ODI.

Mayers almost did the job with both bat and ball in the second ODI. He needs to do his bit in helping Windies to a good start. He also took two wickets with the bat.

King scored a duck ad and was dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal. He will need to get back to scoring runs. He is a good enough batsman to get crucial runs for his team.

Rovman Powell

Powell has been the biggest disappointment for West Indies in the ODI seris. He had two low scores in two back to back games. Ahead of the T20Is, he has to get some runs under his belt in the final ODI.

Romario Shepherd

Shepherd was chosen over Jason Holder in the first two games. He scored crucial runs with the bat but has not been effective with the ball. He will look to contribute to both departments in the final ODI.

Akeal Hosein / Gudakesh Motie

Hosein was expensive with the ball in the first second ODI going for 72 runs in nine overs. Gudakesh Motie can replace him in the XI for the final game.

Joseph is pretty much the spearhead of this Windies bowling attack in the absence of Jason Holder and Kemar Roach. He bowled a good spell of 2 for 46 and needs to have a similar sort of outing in the final ODI.
