India and Zimbabwe go head to head in the second ODI on Saturday, August 20, in Harare. The visitors won the first game by 10 wickets as Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan completed the run chase without any fuss whatsoever. The side will now be looking to complete a whitewash and win the next two games heading to the Asia Cup.
Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill scored 81 and 82 respectively as India won the match within 40 overs. None of the Zimbabwean bowlers were able to pose any threat to the two Indian batsmen. This was India’s most convincing win in recent times. They extended their winning streak to 13 matches now against Zimbabwe since 2013.

“I am enjoying batting with the youngster [Gill] and I feel like a youngster too. I enjoyed the consistency from West Indies. My rhythm with Gill has settled nicely. The way he bats and times the ball is lovely to watch. He has shown the consistency in converting fifties into bigger fifties,” said Dhawan after the end of the first ODI.
Zimbabwe, on the other hand, were totally outplayed in the contest. They headed into this series after winning the ODI series against Bangladesh but were no match for this Indian side.

” The Indian bowlers bowled really well, put the pressure on us and we lost our way after the first 4-5 overs. It was good to see Richi (Ngarava) and Brad give us that partnership at the end. We needed to have one or two big partnerships, but it didn’t happen today. Our bowlers tried to come hard at them, but obviously, they batted really well and took the game away from us” he said as he reflected on the first ODI loss.
