The first reason is Jadeja has executed impeccable performance for India in recent times. Ravindra Jadeja was injured for a long time after ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in November last year. He made a comeback in previous India vs Sri Lanka Test and T20I series.

In the 1st Test, he gave a spectacular performance. The left-handed batsman scored unbeaten 175 runs in the match and also picked 9 wickets. With 201 runs in 3 innings, he was also the top run-getter in IND vs SL Test series. He also picked 10 wickets in total.

Jadeja was equally good in the T20I series. He scored 70 runs in 3 T20I games and remained not-out in all of them, batting at a brilliant strike rate of 189+. He also picked 2 wickets.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was another player who was capable of becoming the new CSK skipper. However, it looks like MS Dhoni wants him more seasons to prove his consistency. Gaikwad impressed everyone with his batting skills last season, smacking 635 runs in 16 games and winning the orange cap. However, the right-handed batsman has only played 2 seasons so far and has a long way to go in the tournament.
