Aakash Chopra Picks 6 Players Who Could Be Drafted By Lucknow And Ahmedabad Before IPL 2022 Mega Auction

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has picked 6 big players who could be drafted in by new Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises Lucknow and Ahmedabad before the IPL 2022 mega auction.

All the 8 existing Indian Premier League (IPL) teams have announced the list of retained players and some of the major names like KL Rahul and Rashid Khan have not made it to the list of retained players. Meanwhile, the new entrants Lucknow and Ahmedabad are allowed to draft in three players each ahead of the mega auction.

Speaking on his YouTube channel Aakash Chopra predicted 6 big names who will not enter the auction and they will be drafted in by two new franchises.

The first player picked by Chopra was former Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul and he opined that Rahul will become the captain of the Lucknow franchise. The second player on Chopra’s list was former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) leg-spinner, Rashid Khan.

“My first pick is KL Rahul. I feel he will not be able to reach the auction. Punjab Kings wanted to retain him but he didn’t want to. I think he is going to Lucknow and will become the captain of the new team. Rashid Khan is second in the pecking order.

I don’t think his name will reach the auction table. He did not want to stay at SunRisers Hyderabad as he has been already approached by a new franchise with a better salary,” Aakash Chopra elaborated.

Chopra further added that former Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Shreyas Iyer will be once again taking over the leadership responsibilities in the Indian Premier League, as he will be the captain of the Ahmedabad franchise.

Aakash Chopra added that leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will be bought by Ahmedabad and Ishan Kishan who’s “stocks are a bit high at the moment” will be drafted in by the new IPL team ahead of Hardik Pandya.

“My third pick is Shreyas Iyer. He is likely to become captain of the Ahmedabad franchise. He is an important player and will be drafted to a new team. I won’t be surprised to see him lead Ahmedabad as he has already captained Delhi Capitals.

“Yuzvendra Chahal is another player who might go to Ahmedabad. Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya might not be a part of the auction, but Ishan Kishan’s stocks are a bit high at the moment,” Chopra elaborated.

Chopra also said that Australia opener David Warner will not be part of the auction as he will be roped in by one of the new teams before the IPL 2022 mega auction.

“David Warner will not make it to the auction either. He is a proven match-winner. He has a lot of experience, has won a lot of games, and has scored 600 odds runs in so many seasons. You won’t find a more consistent player than him,” he stated.
