IPL 2022: Andy Flower Leading The Race To Coach Lucknow Franchise - Reports

Former Zimbabwean cricketer and Punjab Kings assistant coach, Andy Flower, is highly likely to become the head coach of the newly-added franchise, Lucknow, in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Flower was the assistant coach of Punjab until the IPL 2021 season. He sent in his resignation a few weeks ago and it was accepted.
“He sent his resignation to the team recently. It has been accepted. There is a good chance that he goes to one of the new teams (Lucknow or Ahmedabad),” a BCCI official had told PTI.

Now that he is free to work, Flower can become the next head coach of Lucknow. Flower has the advantage among a few candidates because of his excellent rapport with KL Rahul, who is expected to be bought by the Lucknow franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.
Here’s what a team official said about the head coach being Andy Flower:
“We have been hearing a lot of names. Only today someone wrote that Gary Kirsten is also becoming the coach. We are in talks with a few, but unless someone signs for us, we cannot confirm,” the official was quoted as saying to PTI.
Apart from Flower, the other two in contention are former Indian pace bowler, Ashish Nehra, and New Zealand spinner, Daniel Vettori.
