After the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 battle between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) the CSK coach Stephen Fleming opened up on Ambati Rayudu’s retirement fiasco.

On Saturday, Rayudu took to Twitter to state that he would be retiring from IPL after the conclusion of the ongoing edition of the IPL. However, after some time he deleted his retirement tweet, which led to fans getting confused.

“I am happy to announce that this will be my last ipl. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and CSK for the wonderful journey,” Rayudu had tweeted.

Later, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan came up with a clarification on this incident and said that Rayudu would not be retiring. The CSK CEO told NDTV:

“He was a bit disappointed that he was not doing well. So, he mistakenly put out that tweet. I have explained things to him. He is not retiring. He will be with us.”

Rayudu was not part of CSK’s playing XI in the match against Gujarat Titans on Sunday. As he along with Robin Uthappa, Dwayne Bravo and Maheesh Theekshana were replaced by N Jagadeesan, Prashant Solanki, Mitchell Santner and Matheesha Pathirana in the playing XI.

While talking about the Rayudu’s issues during a post-match press conference CSK head coach said that the incident was “a little bit of a storm in a teacup”.

“It was not disappointing, it was probably a little bit of a storm in a teacup, to be honest. But, I think he was fine. It has not changed anything in the camp but it is a non-story,” Fleming said while replying to an NDTV question during a virtual post-match press conference.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings lost the match by 7 wickets against Gujarat Titans and Hardik Pandya and co. booked their spot in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2022.
