CSK vs KKR: Twitter Reacts As KKR Start Off With A Clinical Win Over CSK In Game 1

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) began their IPL 2022 campaign with a clinical win over defending champions, Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the new season at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.

Chasing a target of 132, KKR was never in a spot of bother as their top-order contributed collectively. Ajinkya Rahane top-scored for his team with 44 in his return to the IPL. The right-hander played orthodox shots and provided a quick start in the powerplay.

He scored six fours and a maximum during his stay at the crease and was part of two crucial partnerships that ensured that Kolkata was always ahead in the run chase. In the end, they completed the chase quite comfortably and registered the first points of the fresh season.

Earlier, Umesh Yadav’s opening spell rattled the Yellow Brigade early on and they were always playing from behind. There were some sloppy moments from their batters as well and they had lost half the side within the first 11 overs.

MS Dhoni and the new captain, Ravindra Jadeja, proceeded to stitch an unbeaten 70-run partnership for the 6th wicket. Dhoni scored his first fifty in nearly three years and played quite a few vintage strokes, rolling back the years.

They managed to put up 132 runs on the board but it was nowhere near enough for their bowlers to defend. Nevertheless, the win was thoroughly deserved by KKR and Shreyas Iyer begins his new captaincy stint with a win.
