Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Jasprit Bumrah will have the opportunity to become the first Indian pacer to go past the 250-wicket mark when he takes the field against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their IPL 2022 game on Thursday.

Bumrah has taken 248 wickets so far in the shortest format, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar (222 wickets) and fellow MI teammate, Jaydev Unadkat, coming in third with 201 wickets among the pacers.

The 28-year-old pacer has played for Gujarat in the domestic circuit, Mumbai Indians in the IPL, and the Indian team at the highest level. He has 67 wickets in T20Is and 140 wickets in the IPL with the remaining coming at the domestic level.

The spearhead of the Indian attack recently took his best figures in his IPL career against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He ended with impressive figures of 5/10 in four overs but unfortunately, his team ended up losing the game by 52 runs.

Nevertheless, Bumrah will be keen to put on another bowling masterclass display when MI meets the 4-time champions, CSK, in the El Clasico. The match may be inconsequential in terms of the points table but both teams have the bragging rights to play for.

While MI is having its worst-ever season in IPL history with 3 wins in 12 matches, MS Dhoni and co. aren’t doing that great either. The two teams are in the bottom two spots but CSK has an outside chance of making it to the playoffs provided other results go their way.
