Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is facing off against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. The two teams are struggling at the bottom of the IPL 2022 points table with MI even being knocked out.

Despite being a dead rubber in certain ways, the match was filled with exciting moments and ones that were marred with controversy. Due to a power issue at the stadium, the Decision Review System (DRS) was unavailable in the first four overs of CSK’s innings.

CSK opener, Devon Conway, was adjudged LBW by the umpire, Ravikant Reddy, in the very first over of the game. However, replays showed that the ball might have been going down the leg side but Conway was unable to review.

The umpire’s terrible day in the field continued during Mumbai’s batting innings. Chasing a paltry target of 98, Mumbai was in serious trouble at 34/4 when Hrithik Shokeen tried to nudge a ball down the leg side.

He failed to make contact but the Chennai players went up in appeal, almost begging the umpire to raise his finger. Ravikant looked like he was about to turn it down but suddenly ended up raising the dreaded finger under the pressure.

Hrithik expectedly reviewed it immediately and it confirmed that the ball had barely brushed the pad. The decision was reversed but the fans were left to wonder what could have happened if the DRS was still unavailable at the time.
