Gujarat Titans (GT) scripted an incredible run chase to subject Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their 5th defeat in the IPL 2022 season at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Sunday.

The second game of the double-header weekend ended in thrilling fashion. Been put in to bat first by stand-in Gujarat captain, Rashid Khan, Chennai lost Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali quite cheaply.

Ambati Rayudu and Ruturaj Gaikwad then joined hands to build a 92-run partnership, with the latter finally finding his range. He played well for his 48-ball 73 while Rayudu contributed with a 31-ball 46, including 4 fours and 2 sixes.

In response, Gujarat had lost half the side for 87 in the 13th over of the chase. The target of 170 was looking steep and Gujarat only had David Miller, their last specialist batter at the crease.

However, he turned it on just when his franchise needed and the skipper, Rashid provided brilliant support. The tables turned completely in GT’s favor with a 25-run over in the 18th over bowled by Chris Jordan.

The equation came down to 13 off the last over and Miller, after being caught off a waist-high no-ball, ended the game with a ball to spare. The stunning run chase cemented GT’s spot at the top, and they’re now the first team to enter double-digits on the points table.
