GT vs DC: "I Was Looking To Bang Away On The Hard Length": Gujarat Titans Pacer Lockie Ferguson

Gujarat Titans pacer Lockie Ferguson picked 4/28 as he delivered a match-winning performance for his side in their victory over Delhi Capitals in match 10 of IPL 2022. The Titans defended their total of 171 as Delhi reached as far as 157/9 to lose the game by 14 runs.

The Gujarat Titans became the second team to defend their title after Rajasthan Royals won defending as well earlier in the day against Mumbai Indians. It was a cumulative bowling effort from the Titans bowlers to shard the wickets amongst themselves. Ferguson bowled fast and by his own admission was trying to hit the hard lengths making it difficult for the opposition batsmen to get the runs.

“Was one of those nights and with the kind of bowling partners I have, makes things very easy for me. It’s great (to have a potent bowling unit) and helps to spread calmness in the group. The pressure was coming from both ends with the ball and it worked for us. I think it (bowling extra fast) is more of an instinct thing. There was a lot of bounce in the surface and I was looking to bang away on that hard length” said Ferguson in the post-match presentation.

The Kiwi pacer picked the big wicket of the Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant to turn the match in Gujarat’s favour. Pant scored 43 off 29 balls before losing his wicket in the 15 th over of their innings. Pant did not commit to the short pitch delivery from Ferguson as he top-edged the ball to get himself dismissed.

Ferguson also gave his opinion on Hardik Pandya as the skipper of the side. He said that the Indian all-rounder gave his bowlers the freedom to play the game in their own way which is doing wonders for the team. Pandya also picked a wicket in the very first delivery of his spell in the game. He ended his spell with 1 for 22.
