GT vs RR: They Have Understood True Potential Of Ravichandran Ashwin - Harbhajan Singh Credits RR For Showing Faith In All-Rounder

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh showered praise on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) franchise for believing in Ravichandran Ashwin’s all-round abilities and he reposed their faith in him with a match-winning knock.

In RR’s final game of the season against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Ashwin played a 23-ball 40 in the run chase of 151, helping RR get over the line with five wickets remaining and also secure a place in the top two.

“Rajasthan Royals should be credited for showing faith in Ashwin’s all-round abilities and this is the best franchise to have ever made full use of R Ashwin.”

“No franchise has ever utilized Ashwin’s batting talent before but this team has promoted him up in the batting order and he’s won them a match with the bat. They have understood the true potential of R Ashwin and full credit to Ashwin for reposing the faith of the franchise as well,” Harbhajan said on Star Sports.

Notably, RR opener Jos Buttler‘s performances have fallen off a cliff after an unbelievable first seven matches where he scored 3 hundreds. He was set to break Virat Kohli’s record of most runs scored in a single season (973 runs) but has fumbled in the last few games.

“Coming to Buttler, I feel that he seems to have peaked very early and that is a reason why runs are not flowing through his bat in the latter part of the tournament. He’s a great player and he’ll have to go back to his basics to regain his form.”

“He will have to adjust to the pitches in Kolkata. The pitches in Maharashtra have slowed down as the tournament reached its business end but the Eden Gardens track will be fresh, so not just Buttler, every batter will have to make that necessary adjustment,” Harbhajan added.

RR faces off against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday.
