Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Hardik Pandya was able to pick the huge wicket of Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Devdutt Padikkal in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday, May 24.

Devdutt Padikkal started off his innings really slow in the crucial qualifier encounter against Gujarat Titans but he decided to accelerate his innings in the 14th over and he smashed back-to-back boundaries to spinner Sai Kishore.

Padikkal wanted to continue his momentum in the next over but he was cleaned up by the GT captain Hardik on the first ball of the 15th over itself.

Hardik bowled a short length off-cutter delivery just outside off to Padikkal and the RR batter played the pull shot away from his body but he only managed to inside-edge the ball onto the leg-stump.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter’s innings ended at 28 runs off 20 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes.

Gujarat Titans Make One Change To The Playing XI In Qualifier 1 vs Rajasthan Royals

Earlier, Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to field first in the match and they made just one change to the playing XI by adding Alzarri Joseph to the team in place of Lockie Ferguson. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals fielded an unchanged playing XI.

Left-arm pacer Yash Dayal got the first breakthrough for Gujarat Titans in the second over by dismissing young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for 3. At the end of the powerplay, Rajasthan Royals were at 55/1 with Samson at 30* and Buttler at 16*.

Sanju Samson’s sensational innings were brought to an end by Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore on the 5th ball of the 10th over. Samson scored 47 runs off 26 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes.

At the time of writing, Rajasthan Royals were at 135/3 with Jos Buttler and Shimron Hetmyer out in middle.
