Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is one of the two new teams to be inducted into the IPL. The franchise is owned by business tycoon Sanjeev Goenka who previously owned the Rising Pune Supergiants In the IPL. KL Rahul will be leading the franchise after paring ways with Punjab Kings.

The IPL newcomers kick off their IPL 2022 season against fellow newcomers Gujarat Titans on March 28 at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. The BCCI finalised four venues in Maharashtra to host 74 games between March 26 to May 29. Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 matches each while the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai and MCA Stadium in Pune will play hosts to 15 games each. Ahead of the campaign opener of Lucknow Supergiants, we take a look at three players who can win the Purple Cap for the franchise in IPL 2022.

Avesh Khan was picked up by the franchise for 10 crores in the IPL 2022 mega auction. With Mark Wood ruled out of the season due to injury, Khan now becomes the senior bowler in the franchise. Along with West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, Khan becomes the two most dependable bowlers for the franchise. He took 24 wickets for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021.

Ravi Bishnoi

Bishnoi was one of the three drafts picks by Lucknow Supergiants. KL Rahul saw him from close quarters at Punjab Kings having played together for two years and the management wasted no time in roping him in. Bishnoi is a long-term investment for the franchise and has the potential to end up with the Purple cap. So far in the IPL, he has picked up 23 wickets from 24 matches, all of them for the Kings.

The former West Indies skipper with his all-round skills can be an important player for LSG. He performed with both bat and ball for SRH in IPL 2021 and delivered crucial performances. With the experience of Holder, he can also be a part of the leadership group of the new franchise. It will be interesting to see where and how does KL Rahul used him in the bowling attack.
