IPL 2022: 3 Players From Mumbai Indians (MI) Who Can Win The Purple Cap

Mumbai Indians (MI) are placed in group A alongside KKR, DC, RR and Lucknow Supergiants in IPL 2022. They have been the most successful franchise having won five IPL titles with the latest of them being in IPL 2020.

Mumbai Indians kick off their campaign against Delhi Capitals on March 27 at The Brabourne CCI stadium. Mumbai have won 16 matches while Delhi 12 out of the 30 matches they have played so far in the IPL. 74 matches will be held across four venues in Maharashtra. Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 matches each while the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai and MCA Stadium in Pune will play hosts to 15 games each. Ahead of MI’s first game against Delhi Capitals, we take a look at three players who can win the purple cap for the side.

Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah will lead the Mumbai Indians pace attack. He has picked up 130 wickets so far for the side. The pacer has taken 15 or more every season since 2016. With Trent Boult no more a part of the side, Bumrah will pair up alongside Basil Thampi. The pace from both the bowlers can certainly trouble a lot of batsmen. It will be interesting to see the approach of Bumrah in IPL 2022.

Tymal Mills

Mills can find a place in the XI given that Jofra Archer is only available for the side from IPL 2023. The franchise has invested in several reputed T20 bowlers to cover up for the absence of Trent Boult. One of them is the England pacer who is making a return to the IPL for the first time since 2017. If he is given consistent matches, Mills with his wide range of variations can be amongst the wickets for MI.

Mayank Markande

Mumbai do not have reputed spinners in their squad. Mayank Markande played for them in IPL 2029 and turned out to be a revelation. He is back again with the franchise for yet another stint in the IPL. Along with him Murugan Ashwin will pair up from the other and both these spinners might be in the wicket-taking list for Mumbai Indians.
