The Mumbai Indians (MI) are almost certain to miss out on the IPL 2022 playoffs, as per Aakash Chopra.

The five-time champions were defeated by the Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs in an Indian Premier League match on Saturday afternoon (LSG). This was their sixth straight loss since the competition began. To have a chance of winning the title, they may need to win their final eight league phase games.

Chopra was apprehensive about the team’s chances in the IPL 2022 season. He reasoned as follows:

“The Mumbai Indians have yet to win a game. They have yet to win a single battle, yet six battles have already passed. This season is almost ended; you can still qualify by winning eight matches, but how will you win eight out of eight if you didn’t win one of the first six?”

When it comes to MI’s bowling, the cricketer-turned-commentator likened Jasprit Bumrah to a one-man squad. He went on to say:

“Bumrah was left to his own devices. He’s debating what he should do next. They’ll need 5 Bumrahs to make it work; else, whomever they get to bowling other than him will be stripped bare. Tymal Mills was hit so hard that he was sent a mile.”

Rohit Sharma’s inability to lead the Mumbai Indians to victory: Aakash Chopra

The Mumbai Indians have been harmed by Rohit Sharma’s inability to play significant knocks, according to Aakash Chopra. He went on to say:

“The chase isn’t taking place at all. Rohit Sharma has ejected yet again; he has been ejected regularly. He’s having trouble getting runs, not with his form. He hasn’t scored a half-century in the last six games. He appears to be playing well in every match, but he is eliminated. Ishan Kishan also goes out, and he’s having a hard time.” Aakash Chopra said.
