Sunrisers Hyderabad made some real good deals in the IPL 2022 mega auctions. They retained three players in Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik and added 20 more in the mega auction. They had to, unfortunately, let go of Rashid Khan during the retention window when it was expected that he would be the first player to be retained by the franchise.
Among the new additions include Nicholas Pooran, Washington Sundar, Rahul Tripathi as they have managed to get hold of a strong Indian core. They look a very promising side on paper and have the ammunition and the talent to go all the way with the squad that they have gathered. In this article, we will take a look at five most expensive buys of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL auction history.
IPL 2022 Auction: 5 Highest Bids By Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) In IPL Auction History
Rahul Tripathi (8.50 Cr)
After playing IPL 2020 and 2021 with KKR, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Rahul Tripathi for 8.50 crores in the mega auction. It is a good investment in the sense that he is young and can be seen s a long-term prospect with the side. Apart from being a good batsman, Tripathi is an excellent fielder and a complete team man. He should be a regular in the SRH playing XI in the new season.

Washington Sundar (8.75 Cr)
The franchise identified Sundar’s all-round skills and added him to their arsenal for the new season. The southpaw has produced some meaningful contributions with the bat for the national side. Along with that he has been miserly with the ball for India. Another youngster, he can be potentially groomed to be a captain to take the team forward.
Rashid Khan (9Cr)
Sunrisers Hyderabad spent a massive 9 crores behind Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan at the 2017 IPL auction. His inclusion changed the fortunes of the side and they became a force to reckon with. He took 93 wickets for the franchise across four seasons from 2017-2021 and played a big part in his side making to the 2018 IPL final. He was released ahead of the new IPL season by the franchise.
Nicholas Pooran (10.75 Cr)
Pooran started a bidding war between all the IPL franchises. Initially, KKR went hard behind getting him in but then when it exceeded their purse limit, SRH finally splashed over 10 crores to get in the southpaw. His IPL numbers are pretty ordinary still and the franchise would ideally hope for it to get better as he seems a new future with SRH.
Manish Pandey (11Cr)
The franchise invested 11 crores in Manish Pandey ahead of the IPL 2018 mega auctions. Pandey joined the franchise that year and spent four seasons with the Orange Army. He remains their most expensive player at 11 crores. He scored 1345 runs for the franchise in 51 games with 12 fifties to his name.
