IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Nicholas Pooran Reacts After Being Roped In By Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad shelled out 10.75 crores to buy West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran in the IPL 2022 mega auction. KKR and SRH were engaged in a bidding war to acquire Pooran with The Orange Army finally managing to add him to their list of players. Apart from Pooran, the franchise bought nine other players with Pooran being their most expensive player among all roped in. 

After Nicholas Pooran was acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad, the West Indian players had a message for his new franchsie.“@SunRisers looking forward to an amazing journey with you guys! #OrangeArmy,” Pooran tweeted.

The franchise managed to rebuy the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan and Priyam Garg at the mega auction. They added some new Indian players as well in Washington Sundar, Rahul Tripathi and Karthik Tyagi. 

The West Indian players previously played for Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings in the IPL. However, he is yet to produce his best in the IPL yet. So far in the IPL, Pooran has scored 606 runs in 33 games with just two fifties to his name for Punjab.

Apart from Pooran, several other reputed players in the IPL were bought for a price of above 10 crores. Ishan Kishan was the most expensive player of the day with Mumbai Indians splashing 15.25 crores to get him in. KKR roped in Shreyas Iyer for 12.25 crore.

Proteas pacer Kagiso Rabada was acquired by Punjab Kings for Rs 9.25 crore. Kiwi pacer Trent Boult was sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 8 crore. Faf du Plessis was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 7 crores.
