As per BCCI’s current plans, IPL 2022 auction is set to take place on February 12 and 13 next month. Bengaluru is the venue of the auction. A total of 10 teams will be part of the IPL 2022 auction, as two new teams Lucknow and Ahmedabad have been added to the tournament for the 2022 edition. As a result, IPL 2022 will be a 10-team tournament.

The old 8 teams have retained a total of 27 players in their squad for the next season. Out of these, there are 19 domestic players and 8 overseas players. The two new teams have to pick 3 players each from the draft of released players till January 22. Thereafter, the IPL 2022 mega auction will take place. 5. Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle is the first player on the list. The left-handed batsman has many batting records to his name in the Indian Premier League. Although Chris Gayle is definitely is one of the most dangerous batsmen of all time in T20 cricket, his performance in the last few IPL seasons has seen a slump.

For instance, he could only play 7 games in IPL 2020 for Punjab Kings, scoring 288 runs. In IPL 2021, he managed to score only 193 runs in 10 innings. In the last 30 IPL games, the 42-year-old has slammed only 7 half-centuries. However, due to his lucrative IPL history, Gayle will gain the limelight during IPL 2022 auction.

4. Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan is another overrated player who will be part of IPL 2022 auction. Eoin Morgan was the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous season but the team released him ahead of IPL 2022. Although Kolkata Knight Riders reached the final in IPL 2021 with a spectacular performance, Eoin Morgan had little to contribute with the bat.

In IPL 2021, the left-handed batsman piled up just 133 runs in 16 innings at a miserable average of 11.08. The England limited-overs skipper also failed to hit any half-century. Moreover, he was the least run-getter for the team among all the full-time batsmen. However, being England’s ODI and T20I skipper, Eoin Morgan is a big name in international cricket and will fetch a lot of attraction during IPL 2022 auction.

3. Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik is another player on this list. Dinesh Karthik was part of Kolkata Knight Riders last season. However, the team released him out of the squad ahead of the next season. He played 17 games in IPL 2021, scoring 223 runs in 15 innings at an average of 22.30.

If we take a look at wicketkeepers in IPL, youngsters like Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, and KL Rahul have more demand than Karthik. However, being a national player in the past, Karthik has a good reputation in Indian cricket and will fetch a good amount in IPL 2022 auction.

2. Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya is another overrated player who will be part of the IPL 2022 auction. Although Krunal Pandya has executed some incredible performances for Mumbai Indians over the years, he does not enjoy success like some other players of his age group in international cricket. While many younger players make it to the national team on a regular or temporary basis, Krunal Pandya’s name is mostly overlooked by selectors.

However, he is still a big name in IPL due to his association with the most successful franchise Mumbai Indians. Being a left-arm with both bat and ball, he is a unique all-rounder a team can get. The left-arm spinner has been released by Mumbai Indians and will be in the spotlight during IPL 2022 auction.

1. Dawid Malan

Dawid Malan will be another overrated player who will be part of the IPL 2022 auction. Although the England batter has not given spectacular performances in the sub-continent, he holds a lot of value in the shortest format as he is ICC’s no.1 T20I batsman currently.

The 33-year-old has held the spot for more than a year. Last year in his debut edition, he was picked by Punjab Kings for a base price of Rs. 1.5 crore. Nothing could be said about his performance though, as the left-handed batsman played just 1 game scoring 26 runs. Malan will still attract a lot of eyeballs during IPL 2022 auction due to his brilliance in international T20 games.
