The upcoming mega auctions will be crucial for Kolkata Knight Riders to build a competitive and experienced squad for the future. Keeping in mind that this will be the last mega auction possibly in the IPL, the franchise needs to strategise and plan around the players they need to target in the IPL 2022 mega auctions.

They have already invested 34 crores in the four players they have retained. KKR have retained Andre Russell (INR 12 crore), Varun Chakravarthy (INR 8 crore), Venkatesh Iyer (INR 8 crore), Sunil Narine (INR 6 crore) trusting the players to lay the foundation for the future. They have another 48 crores in which to prepare a complete all-round squad. Meanwhile, here is a probable list of players Kolkata Knight Riders might target in the mega auction.

KKR have a big chance of roping in at least two out of these four players at the auction. The players will be on the wishlist of almost all the franchises given they make up multiple facets of the game. With Dhawan and Warner, KKR will have captaincy material along with two proven openers. In case they manage to buy De Kock and Lynn, there two KKR will have a wicketkeeper and another option for the opening slot.

Lynn has led Brisbane Heat in the BBL and De Kock has led South Africa across formats as well. Thus these four players give KKR an option to cover most bases.
