IPL 2022 Auction: Twitter Reacts As Shreyas Iyer Gets Sold To Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) For 12.25 Crores

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought former Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Shreyas Iyer for 12.25 crores at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction on Saturday, February 12 in Bengaluru.

Several teams showed interest in adding Shreyas Iyer to their squad and very soon his bidding price crossed the 4 crores mark. Royal Challengers Bangalore made the first bid for Iyer and they were engaged in a bidding war with Delhi Capitals (DC).

Soon Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) also started to bid for Shreyas Iyer. And in the end, Kolkata Knight Riders were successful in acquiring the services of the former Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer.

Notably, Iyer has played 87 Indian Premier League games and has scored 2375 runs at an average of 31.66. Also, Shreyas Iyer led Delhi Capitals to the final in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. However, Delhi Capital lost against Mumbai Indians in the final of the tournament.

Meanwhile, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer will most likely lead Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2022. He will be joining the likes of Pat Cummins, Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine in the KKR squad.

Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 player auction list was announced on February 1 and in total 590 cricketers were shortlisted from the original list of 1214 players based on the wishlist to go under the auction hammer on February 12 and 13 at Hotel ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru.

However, some changes were made on the eve of the mega auction and 10 new players were added, amongst which 3 were Australians and 7 were Indians.
