IPL 2022: Graeme Smith Discusses Why Ricky Ponting Needs To Keep David Warner Happy In His Team

Graeme Smith, a former South African captain, reckons Australian batsman David Warner is a challenging guy to have around the team.
Warner feels happy in a team, as per Smith, and if he is, he will perform at his best.
In this year’s IPL, David Warner has already been in fantastic form, hitting his third straight fifty. Smith went into great detail about the batter’s outstanding performance in the Indian Premier League, suggesting that the left-hander is right up there along with Chris Gayle in regards of an all-time IPL XI.
“I was looking at the best IPL XI of all time, and he (Warner) was always on my mind. He is unquestionably Chris Gayle’s adversary when four foreign players are included. He’s also held a leadership position before, and his fielding is excellent.”
Last season, Warner was fired as Sunrisers Hyderabad captain following a heated brawl with the team. Hyderabad’s game was a complete disaster, and Warner was blamed for not getting off to a flying start at the front.
Warner bounced back in the T20 World Cup after being benched, assisting Australia win their first title.

Warner was in a perfect place (Delhi Capitals) because of Ricky Ponting’s involvement in the squad, according to Graeme Smith , because the former Australian captain understands how to maintain the batsman pleased.
“He’s not the easiest character to work with. Ricky Ponting understands that he needs to be happy, and he knows how to get the most out of him ” Graeme Smith had an opinion on the subject.
