Aiden Markram reckons that Rahul Tripathi’s participation in the India squad should not be surprising.
Rahul has been a consistent player in the prestigious league, but he has yet to play for India.
Young Indian talent has put up some outstanding performances in this year’s Indian Premier League. As we all get nearer to the T20 World Cup in Australia eventually this year, individuals ranging from uncapped Ayush Badoni and Umran Malik to experienced players Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are making a good case for selection.
One such talent is Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Rahul Tripathi, who is now the team’s leading run-scorer. The 31-year-old right-handed batsman has 205 runs and a 51.25 batting average in six appearances.
He’s been doing well in the IPL for several seasons: Aiden Markram
Despite being a consistent player in the lucrative league, Rahul has yet to play for India. Fellow SRH teammate Aiden Markram, on the other hand, says he should not be surprised if he makes the India squad.
“I won’t be surprised if he does end up in the squad,” the South African cricketer told News 9. He is a selfless individual who accomplishes exactly what the team requires. He’s technically exceptional, hitting good cricket shots in the Powerplay and scoring comfortably without taking many risks. He can play spin well, and he can hit lap and sweep shots.
“He’s been doing well in the IPL for a few seasons, and we all know how much batting potential India has, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Rahul made the Indian squad.” Aiden Markram Added.
On Saturday, Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in an attempt to extend their winning streak.
