IPL 2022: How Much Ever You Pay For An Experienced Player, It Is Less - Virender Sehwag Says Krunal Pandya Wasn't Overpriced At The Auction
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag lavished praise on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all-rounder, Krunal Pandya, stating that the elder Pandya brother was paid the right amount at the IPL 2022 mega auction.
Krunal was bought for INR 8.25 crores at the auction and he has justified his price tag so far. Although his contributions with the bat haven’t been up to the mark, he has more than made up for it with his economical bowling.
“I don’t think Krunal Pandya was overpriced at the auction. He has the caliber and the experience. How much ever money you pay for an experienced player, it is less. He is showing his experience, he is bowling well. Has not contributed much with the bat, but we may get to see that going ahead,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.
“No one knows that I have been working hard on my bowling” – Krunal Pandya
Krunal ended with figures of 2/11 in four overs against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Friday which helped LSG bag a 20-run win. This moved them to third on the points table with 6 wins in 9 matches. Speaking after the conclusion of the game, Krunal credited his performance to the hard work he has put in the past few months.
“Throughout the tournament, I have been bowling well. No one knows that for the last seven to eight months I have been working hard on my bowling. Trying to get tall. I just want to mention Rahul Sanghvi, who has been a big, big help for me. I had a chat with him seven-eight months back, and I told him I want to develop my skill.”
“I felt I was always good with my mindset. I just felt if I could develop my skills, it would really help. The results everyone can see, but the effort has been there from the last eight months, trying to get better as a bowler, especially skill-wise,” Krunal said after the match-winning performance against Punjab Kings.
LSG has been excellent in the middle-overs due to their spin bowling duo of Krunal and Ravi Bishnoi applying the brakes on the scoring rate and also picking up crucial wickets.
