IPL 2022: Shreyas Iyer recently revealed that the Kolkata Knight Riders team’s CEO, Venky Mysore too has a say in the selection of the playing XI. This has made former India cricketer, Madan Lal dismayed and shocked.

The former cricketer questioned Venkatesh Mysore’s role in team selection in a stinging attack on the Kolkata Knight Riders’ CEO.

There Is Something Fundamentally Wrong In KKR: Madan Lal

It must be noted that KKR has throughout the ongoing season of the IPL made the most number of changes in their playing XI. They tried various opening combinations at the top, and Sheldon Jackson was in and out of the side. Tim Southee was ousted after he performed well in the first three games.

“I am personally shocked and dismayed by Iyer’s revelations. If that’s true then what are coaches and support staff doing? It is the job of coaches and captains to decide the team and not the CEO,” said Madan Lal.

“That’s the reason why the team is performing so badly on the field. Something is fundamentally wrong within the team,” he further added.

“Coach and at times, CEO is also obviously involved in team selections. Each and every player takes it well, and they have put in their best efforts,” Shreyas Iyer had said on Tuesday after the game.

KKR has a mathematical chance of qualification for the playoffs but it doesn’t look like they would make it this time around as the two-time champions need several results to go their way. The Shreyas Iyer-led side has struggled with a set of new players as they have not been able to play with a set team.
