Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar opined that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be happy seeing one of their best batters, Virat Kohli, regaining form, albeit it came in a losing cause.

Kohli scored a 53-ball 58 against the Gujarat Titans (GT) after Faf du Plessis had fallen for a duck. The knock was much necessary for the team and for Kohli himself, who had scored just 13 runs in his last four games.

It was a knock that he needed, it was a knock that RCB wanted as well. Once you get going and get a fifty, it augurs well for the remaining matches as well. Your main man is hitting the ball cleanly, the feet are moving into position quite nicely.

“It’s a confidence-building innings. Definitely, as far as the RCB is concerned, they will be very, very happy,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.

RCB lost the match to Gujarat who ended up chasing the target of 171 in the final over courtesy of an excellent partnership between Player of the Match, Rahul Tewatia, and David Miller.

Gavaskar also lavished praise on Rajat Patidar, who is playing in his second game of the season. Patidar came in at No. 3 and injected some momentum into RCB’s innings with a 32-ball 52.

To be perfectly honest, at the start of the match, he would be slotted in at No. 3 because he hasn’t had that much experience. On the other hand, Shahbaz has been in good form and he is a left-hander. But Rajat Patidar was outstanding, absolutely top-class. He justified the RCB team management’s tactics,” he went on to add.

Although RCB lost their match in a row, the fans will be happy to see Kohli back in form. They now have 5 wins in 10 games and will need to win at least 3 of their last 4 games to have a chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
