Kevin Pietersen believes that batting legend Virat Kohli is mentally “overcooked” and needs to take a sabbatical from cricket to continue serving his country for another six to seven years.

Pietersen said Kohli should take time away from the game as well as social media.

Kohli has had a hard period for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing IPL 2022 season, only with two 40-plus scores in the last seven innings.

Kohli went for a duck on Tuesday night (April 19), as RCB beat Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs thanks to Faf du Plessis’ 96.

The 33-year-old Delhi batsman had resigned from T20 captaincy both for India and RCB, as well as Test captaincy, and was dismissed from the ODI captain’s position.

Turn off social media, go and get re-energized: Kevin Pietersen

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen suggested Kohli take a break from the game and social media to re-energize. “…the guy has had to cope with a lot in his personal life, from his wife to his infant to media criticism. “He’s the show’s biggest star,” he remarked. “Virat Kohli needs to say, ‘cricket boots, I’ll see you later,’ for the next six months. Turn off social media and go get some fresh air.”

“You promise him a berth in that side for the next 12, 24, or 36 months whenever the stadiums are packed again.” “Tell him you’re our guy, and we’re confident you’ll deliver.” Kohli “is going to find it extremely impossible to sustain delivering now that his brain is fully fried,” Kevin Pietersen added.

Following his golden duck for RCB against LSG, Kohli’s wait for a century in competitive cricket has now reached 100 matches. Meanwhile, RCB scored 181 runs, which was enough to defeat LSG by 18 runs, thanks to Faf du Plessis’ 96 runs.
