IPL 2022: KL Rahul Seems To Have Learnt From LSG Mentor Gautam Gambhir: Piyush Chawla
The Lucknow Giants appear to be title favourites after Karnataka cricketer KL Rahul has marshalled his troops superbly in the most entertaining IPL season yet.
LSG are in the second spot in the points table and are just a win away from a top 2 finish in their first season in the IPL.
Former India Cricketer Harbhajan Singh Agrees To Piyush Chawala
Former Indian cricketer Piyush Chawla believes Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul is following in the footsteps of team mentor Gautam Gambhir and making bold captaincy decisions in the IPL 2022.
Chawla, who was a member of Gautam Gambhir’s Kolkata Knight Riders team, thinks that the India batter is acquiring captaincy qualities from the World Cup-winning former Indian opener.
Speaking on ‘Cricket Live’ on Star Sports, Chawla said: “The way he’s leading the side is thrilling to watch. He is leading the Super Giants brilliantly. It’s good to see him going for the kill.
“He’s placing slip fielders in the 11th-12th overs and looking to finish the game early. This is something which he’s learning well from mentor Gautam Gambhir who was like this during his stint as IPL captain.”
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh praised KL Rahul for his cool demeanour and for setting an example for the IPL rookies.
“The biggest propellent for this team’s show has been the way KL Rahul has led them from the front. He has been the leading run-getter for the side. His performance has encouraged other players to do better.”
“He has shown a lot of calmness as a captain, which is always required in tournaments like these. Also, the management of this team has been very active since the beginning of the league. They picked the right team, picked the right coach and followed the right strategy,” he added.
The Lucknow Super Giants and the Rajasthan Royals will square off in a potential finish for one of the play-off berths on Sunday, as the IPL gears up for an electrifying encounter between two of the most dominant teams in the ongoing tournament.
