IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Aakash Chopra Names The Leg Spinners Who Might Attract High Bids

Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra in his recent Youtube video named the leg-spinners to watch out for in the IPL 2022 mega auction. The auction will be held across February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. A total of 600 players will go under the hammer with 10 U-19 players being added onto the list.

Aakash Chopra named a few leg spinners who might attract high bids in the mega auction. The likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Rahul Chahar are the Indian leggies who will be up at the mega auction.

“Barring KKR almost everyone needs a leg-spinner. The leg-spinners who will be sold expensive – Yuzi Chahal, the most expensive spinner. Rahul Chahar can be at No. 2. At No. 3, I am seeing Hasaranga and Adam Zampa at No. 4 and that’s it.”

Chopra further spoke on the likely trend that can be followed to beg the bowlers. He predicted that there will be a big fight amongst the franchises to rope in the leggies. He further said that the spinners lack quality which might make the franchises think hard before adding them to their squad.

Spinners More On Quantity, Less On Quality: Aakash Chopra

“There will be a lot of fights over leg-spinners. There are plenty of leg-spinners, the quantity is more but not the quality. I see the quality in just three or four and most of the money will go in that only. That’s the trend we will notice.”

Kuldeep Yadav was released ahead of the mega auction with him not getting many games in the last few seasons. Along with Rahul Chahar, Adam Zampa and Wanindu Hasaranga are the two overseas leg-spinners to watch out for.

Chahal’s record for RCB might make the franchise go big behind him. He took 139 wickets for the franchise since joining the side in 2014 including 51 wickets at the Chinnaswamy stadium.
